OUR MISSION:

Empowering women and eradicating hunger and poverty for more than 100 years.

Our Mission

EYWA established in 1909 has been empowering women for more than 100 years.

EYWA enables women to recreate what they can be and what it is they can accomplish through assisting them to proper education. Increased literacy and status will allow those women to raise better generations and enhance the quality of our human resources.

EYWA empowers women economically by matching them with appropriate jobs and drafting their CVs and tackling their main concern, their time constraints. 80% of underprivileged non-working moms are deprived from access to jobs due to the need of caring for their children and not affording Day Care services.

EYWA in 1952 opened the doors of DAR AL HADANA giving women the opportunity of placing their kids, at relatively free of charge, in a fully equipped and staffed nursery offering toddlers education, play and love.

EYWA gives women more time, a luxury many do not have. By creating “QUEASINE” your Quick easy cuisine, a daily dish at home cost price that mothers can purchase in family packs or per portion, free up working women’s time allowing them more quality personal time to spend relaxing or attending to other family needs.

Our Programs

Ever since our inception in 1909 as EYWA we have been able to make a positive change in the lives of thousands of people and our community as a whole, by creating different programs that will empower women and escort them through the social, cultural and economic changes. Allowing women to be active and productive members of the society, contributes to household and national income, a policy adopted decades later by UN agencies.

EDUCATION FOR ALL

As early as 1909 a group of visionary women led by Mrs. Eugenie Saad saw that empowering women through literacy is key to improving family wellbeing and a key strategy in reducing poverty. EYWA-Empowering Young Women Association was founded under license number 137/AD. EYWA’s sole objective was to give underprivileged women access to education denied in public schools at the time. Each would be assisted depending on her needs and aspirations. Our girls were sent to the International school of Choueifat now SABIS, Amelia Trad School, the American University of Beirut and Beirut College for Women now Lebanese American University among others while those in need of vocational education where send to training centers for sewing, nursing etc. We continue to assist young women in gaining access to education by collaborating with esteemed partners and other association.

DAR AL HADANA

Towards the 1950’s public policy in Lebanon allowed women into public schools, and education became at everyone’s reach. The association still saw their mission alive although practices had to be changed forever in the aim of empowering and supporting women, while allowing them to be productive members of there society, whose tradition and culture had always undermined them socially and economically, Dar al Hadana was inaugurated. Dar al Hadana allowed working mothers to go on with their productive lives by giving them the opportunity of placing their kids at relatively free of charge in a the fully equipped and staffed nursery offering toddlers education, play and love. It is a 200-m2 ground floor with backyard in the heart of Beirut, which can accommodate up to 50 kids on full time basis and an additional 20 for afterschool-assisted study.
